Is Delroy Lindo finally joining the MCU? The actor teases that he may be in talks with Ryan Coogler for a role in Black Panther 3.
Delroy Lindo is truly one of the underappreciated living legends. While audiences likely know him best for his recent collaboration with Ryan Coogler in Sinners, he’s been a long-standing pillar of the acting community: from his roles in projects like Malcolm X to his viral clips from The Good Fight. Even before now, he’s been a top pick by many to appear in the Black Panther franchise.
And it seems as though those dreams may be closer to becoming a reality than many fans realize. When reflecting on his role in Sinners with The Hollywood Reporter, Delroy Lindo reveals that he has had talks about potentially joining Black Panther 3. However, it seems as though Ryan Coogler will only bring him on if there’s a substantial enough role.
“I expressed to Ryan [Coogler] that if the stars line up, I would love to be in Black Panther 3. One of the things he said to me was anything that he were to offer me, he would want to be sure that it was worth my time. He didn’t say exactly that, but that’s essentially the sentiment. And I respect that.”
Delroy Lindo’s Role In Black Panther 3
Of course, with there being no details about the story of Black Panther 3 publicly available, it’s hard to pin down what roles Ryan Coogler is even looking for, let alone which ones of those would be a good fit for Delroy Lindo. One popular fancast is Achebe, a villain who has long-been rumored to appear in the sequel as an antagonist.
However, it’s also important to note that another legendary older black actor will appear in Black Panther 3 – Denzel Washington. While it’s certain nobody will complain if both he and Delroy Lindo make their MCU debut in the film, they do fill rather similar roles in the eyes of general audiences, so it may be hard for Ryan Coogler to fit them both in the film.
