According to Variety, Black Widow has added The Departed actor Ray Winstone in an undisclosed role. The film’s cast is already stacked with tremendous talent like David Harbour and Florence Pugh, so it isn’t a surprise that they’re hiring more actors of the same caliber.

Directed by Cate Shortland from a script written by Ned Benson and Jac Schaeffer, the Black Widow film is expected to take place before the character’s debut in Iron Man 2. The standalone film has the opportunity to explore the widow program, which would reveal the origin of Black Widow and how she became the formidable assassin she is today. In the comics, Natasha Romanoff was trained by the Winter Soldier, Bucky Barnes, who is played by Sebastian Stan in the films.
Production on the project began filming this month under the working title “Blue Bayou.” Scarlett Johansson can be seen again as Black Widow in Avengers: Endgame when it gets rereleased next weekend.
