Disney has pushed back Benedict Cumberbatch’s upcoming superhero film, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness by four months.
Since the coronavirus pandemic hit, Disney has been reshuffling its superhero deck. The first set of delays saw the upcoming Doctor Strange film pushed back from July of 2021 to November 5th of the same year. But now, the Benedict Cumberbatch film is being delayed yet again.
The upcoming Doctor Strange film is now being delayed by Disney by four months. The new Benedict Cumberbatch film is now set to be released on March 25th, 2022. The November spot is now being taken up by Tom Holland’s upcoming third Spider-Man film which was also delayed due in part to the coronavirus.

Benedict Cumberbatch is set to reprise his role as Stephen Strange in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Details on The Multiverse of Madness are currently limited, though it is said to feature horror elements. Furthermore, the Disney Plus mini-series WandaVision will also serve as the lead-in to the sequel.
Scott Derrickson is still attached to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness as an executive producer, with Sam Raimi set to direct from a script written by Michael Waldron. The sequel will star Benedict Cumberbatch, Benedict Wong, and Elizabeth Olsen.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will be released on March 25th, 2022.
