Disney has decided not to move forward with the planned Beauty and The Beast series with Josh Gad and Luke Evans.
Way back in 2020, it was revealed that a new series revolving around the Beauty and the Beast characters Gaston and LeFou starring Josh Gad and Luke Evans was in development for Disney Plus. The series was eventually given the green light in the summer of last year with composer Alan Menken revealing that the series would be called The Little Town. Now it appears that the series has been delayed if not flat out canceled.
According to multiple outlets including Variety, the Josh Gad and Luke Evans Disney Plus series has, at the very least been delayed. The series was originally set to begin production later this summer. Reasons for the delay are numerous creative and scheduling issues. Other outlets like Deadline go further into detail citing that the scripts for the episodes were not coming together as expected and the original music composed by Alan Menken was running behind schedule. A delay until fall was sadly not an option due to actor availability. It is currently unknown when or if the series will be picked up again.
