Disney’s stock has seen a jump after the announcement that Mulan would be coming to Disney Plus and how many people were subscribed to the streaming service.
The coronavirus has sadly put many lives and plans on halt and the film industry is no exception. Mulan was pushed back several times before being delayed indefinitely while Disney decided what to do with the film. Yesterday we learned that the film would be made available on Disney Plus for $29.99 in September in the United States while being released theatrically throughout the rest of the world. While some people in the United States may be upset about this it certainly bolstered Disney’s stock.
Today Disney’s stock closed $127.61, with the stock being roughly ten dollars more expensive then it was at the close of yesterday’s price of $117.42. While it’s still roughly $20 less then its peak stock price it is the highest the stock has been since the coronavirus hit the United States. This surge in the stock value has been attributed to the Mulan announcement and that Disney Plus had surpassed over 100 million subscribers worldwide. Whether or not the stocks will continue to climb in value, however, is currently unknown.
What do you all make of this announcement? Are you surprised to see that Disney stock prices are climbing again? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
