Key Avengers characters are rumored to return in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Potential spoilers ahead for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
The upcoming Doctor Strange sequel is set to be one of the most star-studded films of the year, that is if we go off of rumors. The word on the street is that the film is filled with cameos from all across the Marvel universe. The second trailer for the Marvel sequel seemingly confirmed Patrick Stewart’s Professor X returning, which opens the door for other Fox/Marvel characters joining Benedict Cumberbatch through his romp in the multiverse.
It also appears that Doctor Strange’s fellow Avengers will pop up throughout the film. According to an Instagram post (via BrickFanatics), toymaker LEGO is set to release a 2708-piece set based on the Sanctum Sanctorum to coincide with the film’s release. The LEGO set will feature three Doctor Strange variants, Baron Mordo, and fellow Avengers Scarlet Witch, Iron Man, and Spider-Man.
While Scarlet Witch and Mordo’s appearances have been confirmed for quite some time, this is the first we’ve heard of Avengers members Iron Man and Spider-Man appearing in the film. Should they appear, it’s likely that they’ll be variants who are divorced from the core canon of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This new revelation now begs the question of who will play them. Fans have been hoping to see Tom Cruise appear as Iron Man, so perhaps this is that dream casting finally manifesting?
