Professor X actor Patrick Stewart opened up about that voice from the Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness trailer.
During Super Bowl Sunday, Marvel Studios dropped the newest trailer for their upcoming film, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The film, which stars Benedict Cumberbatch in the titular role finds the Avenger in perhaps his most perilous adventure yet. With the Multiverse front and center, some have speculated that we will be seeing some surprising characters make their Marvel Cinematic Universe debut. One in particular has left fans quite intrigued, and that is none other than the possible return of Patrick Stewart as Professor X.
Rumors regarding the return of Patrick Stewart have dominated the discourse regarding Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness for months, but it reached an all-time high when the newest trailer featured a voice that sounded pretty similar to his. Although the individual speaking remains unseen, it sounds quite recognizable for X-Men fans.
Patrick Stewart was recently interviewed by ComicBook.com while promoting Star Trek: Picard. During the interview, he was asked about the Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness trailer, and he finally broke his silence regarding that mysterious voice that sounds eerily similar to his Professor X:
“You know, people have been imitating my voice ever since I came on the stage 60 years ago. So, I can’t be held responsible for that.”
Clearly, Patrick Stewart is denying any involvement as Professor X with the new Sam Raimi film. While it’s possible that he is in fact telling the truth, especially given that his distinct voice has been imitated for decades, fans can easily remember when Andrew Garfield spent much of 2021 denying his involvement in Spider-Man: No Way Home, only for the film’s inevitable release to finally reveal that he is in fact the werewolf.
Here is the synopsis for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness:
