The Sorcerer Supreme is set to return! Benedict Wong teases that something is looming for Wong in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
For a while, it seemed as though MCU fans couldn’t escape Wong. From Shang-Chi to She-Hulk: Attorney At Law, Benedict Wong had his fingers in every pie. Now it’s been two years since fans have seen Wong in the Doctor Strange sequel, leading many to assume that the Wong-apocalypse was over.
Yet fans may see the Sorcerer Supreme return to the MCU sooner than expected. When asked about his absence by ComicBook.com, Benedict Wong teased that something is waiting around the corner for Wong, even if he can’t say exactly what or exactly if he’ll return.
“I can’t really say. It’s been a while,” Benedict Wong explained. “Something’s looming. Something’s looming.”
With no word on Doctor Strange 3, it’s unclear what project Benedict Wong could appear in next. It’s possible that the Agatha show could provide a perfect opportunity for him to continue his magical journey. However, Wong may also be brought back for Wonder Man, given it’s directed by the same person who helmed Shang-Chi.
Wong Continues His MCU Journey
If Wong is to continue his journey alongside Doctor Strange, it’s likely fans will see him return to the MCU sooner than expected. Benedict Cumberbatch himself revealed that he would be appearing in a Marvel project sometime in 2024, making it likely that Benedict Wong would come along for the ride.
It’s also not out of the question that Wong could get his own project in the MCU. Fans have fallen in love with Benedict Wong’s portrayal of the character. She-Hulk: Attorney At Law also introduced the perfect supporting character in Madisynn, who immediately became a mean amongst fans of the iconic duo.
Wong is the quintessence of the power of the MCU. The character was a mere footnote in the Doctor Strange comics. However, Benedict Wong and the team at Marvel Studios managed to transform him into a fan-favorite character that audiences can’t live without. Here’s to hoping the character returns sooner rather than later!
