Longtime Marvel Cinematic Universe star Don Cheadle will return as War Machine for Secret Invasion.
Replacing Terrence Howard, Don Cheadle made his first appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Iron Man 2. Since then he has become a major character in the MCU, supporting roles in Iron Man 3, Avengers: Age Of Ultron, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame. The character last appeared in The Falcon And the Winter Soldier in a minor role at the start of the series.
Since Phase 4 of the MCU began, it was expected that he would return for the upcoming Iron Wars and Iron Heart Disney Plus series. However, it was unclear if he would make an appearance before then. Now we know when Don Cheadle will next return to the MCU.
During this year’s SDCC, audience members were given an exclusive look at the upcoming Secret Invasion series. It revealed that Don Cheadle’s War Machine would return for the new Disney Plus series. It was not made clear how big of a role he will have in the upcoming show.
Plot details for Secret Invasion are currently being kept under lock and key. In the comics, the story centered around an invasion set of the earth set in motion by the Skrulls who attempted to infiltrate the world disguised as humans. Given the portrayal of the Skrulls in the MCU, it is likely that the plot will be radically different.
Secret Invasion is created by Kyle Bradstreet and stars Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Cobie Smulders, Martin Freeman, Don Cheadle, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Olivia Colman, Emilia Clarke, Killian Scott, Christopher McDonald, and Carmen Ejogo.
Secret Invasion is set to premiere on Disney Plus in late 2022. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the upcoming series and Don Cheadle’s role in it and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
