Images of a Secret Invasion crew member’s cap have revealed a hint that the Skrull god Kly’bn may be coming to the MCU in the Disney Plus series.
In the Marvel comics, Kly’bn is the last of the Skrull Eternals, the superpowered immortal race of Skrulls created by the Celestials alongside the Normal and Deviant Skrulls on the shapeshifting aliens’ homeworld of Skrullos. Alongside the Skrull Queen Sl’gur’t, Kly’bn wrote the Book of World Skrull, which prophesied the destruction of Skrullos and founding of a new Skrull homeworld on Earth. It was this prophecy that led to the Skrulls’ infiltration of Earth in the Secret Invasion comic event, which is now being adapted for Disney Plus.
Images of a crew hat from the production were shared online by Twitter user, @DadandLad4, revealing a design featuring an owl wearing an eyepatch, the series’ logo and some alien text. While the meaning of the text isn’t immediately apparent, it can be translated using a cipher from the original Secret Invasion comics. As revealed by Murphy’s Multiverse, the text translates to “He loves you” – a mantra the Skrull would use in reference to Kly’bn.
While it’s not official confirmation, this appears to suggest Kly’bn’s influence on Skrull society will at least be felt throughout Secret Invasion and it seems likely he could appear in the series himself. As an Eternal, Kly’bn could tie the series to Marvel’s recent Eternals film, which ended by setting up the arrival of other planets’ Eternals in the MCU. There is no word yet on the possible meaning of the owl featured on the cap, though its eyepatch could be a nod to Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury, who is due to return in Secret Invasion.
Marvel Studios’ Secret Invasion is expected to premiere exclusively on Disney Plus in late 2022. Meanwhile, here is the synopsis for the latest MCU Disney Plus series, Moon Knight:
