Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam has officially crossed the $300 million mark at the worldwide box office.
Black Adam was once again at the number one spot of the box office this weekend, beating One Piece Film: Red. As of Sunday, Black Adam has earned $137.4 million domestically and $182.3 million overseas for a worldwide total of $319.7 million.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is expected to dethrone Black Adam when it opens in theaters later this week. The Marvel Studios feature is on track to earn north of $175 million during its opening weekend at the North American box office.
The future of the DC Universe
Black Adam is the latest offering from Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment. Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav is already praising the company’s next two DCEU releases, Shazam! Fury of the Gods and The Flash, as Dwayne Johnson continues to tease his future as Black Adam.
James Gunn and Peter Safran recently signed a four-year deal to run DC Studios, a newly-formed division within Warner Bros. Discovery. Their goal is to lead DC’s film, television and animation efforts for the next few years, creating an interconnected universe.
Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra from a script written by Adam Sztykiel, Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani, Black Adam stars Dwayne Johnson, Aldis Hodge, Noah Centineo, Sarah Shahi, Marwan Kenzari, Quintessa Swindell, Bodhi Sabongui and Pierce Brosnan.
