Hawkgirl is reportedly making her big screen debut in Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam movie.
With iconic DC Comics characters like Hawkman and Doctor Fate set to appear Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam, Charles Murphy brings word that the movie will also feature the DC Extended Universe debut of Hawkgirl. Over at his website Murphy’s Multiverse, the scooper reports that the people behind Black Adam are looking for an actress between the ages of 20 and 30 to bring Hawkgirl to life opposite Dwayne Johnson.
Created by James Robinson, David S. Goyer and Scott Benefiel, Hawkgirl made her comic book debut in the pages of 1999’s JSA: Secret Files and Origins #1. The character also has a history on the small screen, having appeared on Smallville and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow as well as several animated series.
This past October, Dwayne Johnson revealed that the Black Adam movie will begin production in July 2020. A month later dropping that information, Dwayne Johnson shared concept art of himself in full costume as Black Adam and announced that the movie will arrive in theaters on December 22, 2021.
Warner Bros. and DC’s Shazam! was originally going to feature Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam before the decision was made to give the character his own standalone film. Here’s the official synopsis for the Shazam! movie:
We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Strong).
Directed by David F. Sandberg, Shazam! stars Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Mark Strong, Jack Dylan Grazer, Grace Fulton, Faithe Herman, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Cooper Andrews, Marta Milans and Djimon Hounsou.
Shazam! is now available on Digital HD, 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD.
