Dwayne Johnson, a.k.a. “The Rock”, has quickly become one of the biggest names in Hollywood. His newest film Red One by Amazon Studios seems set to give the star an equally big payday.

While details about Red One have been kept mostly under wraps by Amazon Studios, the film is set to star Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans in a Christmas-comedy set to spark a new franchise. It also includes J.K. Simmons as a ripped Saint Nick! Amazon seems to be fully committed to the film, as a journalist at Puck reports The Rock is set to earn a $50 million payday, the most any actor has been paid for a single role.

Red One is far from the only massive payday Dwayne Johnson has received. The Rock has previously earned over $20 million for appearances in Red Notice and Black Adam. This film doubles this, with Amazon Studios paying him $10 million more than Robert Downey Jr. was paid for Captain America: Civil War. It’s yet to be seen if the hierarchy of power at Amazon Studios will change, or if Red One will end up a bomb like The Flash.

A new era for the DC Universe

James Gunn and Peter Safran are now in charge of DC’s film, television and animations efforts at Warner Bros. Discovery, bringing the company’s comic book-related assets under one roof. Gunn is said to be focusing on the creative direction of the DCU while Safran is handling things that are related to business and production.
