Echo is set to make history as the first Marvel Cinematic Universe project led by a Native American woman. However, it also seems set to break records with its episode count for a Disney Plus project.
The Disney Plus shows in the MCU have always had a rather consistent episode count. The vast majority have six episodes, with a handful of exceptions like Wandavision and She-Hulk: Attorney At Law hitting nine. However, Echo has a historically low episode count with only five episodes.
There have been rumors that Echo was supposed to have six episodes just like any other Disney Plus show, but was cut down for pacing. Luckily, the low episode count doesn’t seem to throw off fans, with the brutality of the trailer assuring many that Echo will be a truly special MCU project that will be emulated for years to come on Disney Plus.
Where Echo lies within the MCU
Echo is set to debut early next year on Disney Plus, with every episode of the show being released at once. This makes it the first MCU project on Disney Plus to follow the Netflix binge model of releasing all of the episodes on the same day.
Alaqua Cox’s Hawkeye spinoff series will be the tenth overall original Marvel Studios series for Disney Plus. It’s also one of two live-action spin-offs from a previous series — the other being the WandaVision offshoot Agatha: Coven of Chaos.
Serving as executive producers on Echo are Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Brad Winderbaum, Stephen Broussard, Richie Palmer, Marion Dayre, and Jason Gavin, while Amy Rardin, Sydney Freeland, Christina King, and Jennifer Booth will serve as co-executive producers.
