Details about Wonder Woman’s role in the revamped DC Universe remain scarce, especially with Gal Gadot not reprising the character for DC Studios. Yet, James Gunn has been consistent in keeping fans’ hopes alive, even sharing an evocative image of the Amazonian on her special day. His post on Wonder Woman Day, coupled with Eiza González’s comment, “This image is the one,” has only added to the growing speculation.
The Instagram comment has led many fans to speculate that Eiza González is up for the role of Wonder Woman in the DC Universe, or even that this confirms James Gunn and DC Studios have already cast her. However, given the actress’ history with comic book films, including a failed audition for The Batman, it’s likely she’s just commenting as a fan.

The two explained that the DC Universe could bring back elements from previous DC regimes, meaning that their eight-to-year plan is not a full reboot.
Shazam! Fury of the Gods, The Flash, and Blue Beetle have all been released following the announcement of the new DC Universe, with Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom still slated to hit theaters in 2023. Will the characters from those movies make appearances in the new DCU? Only Gunn and Safran know.
