With a sequel to Robert Pattinson’s The Batman officially confirmed by Warner Bros. and DC, a new concept design shows Emily Blunt taking on the role of Poison Ivy.
The Batman hit theaters earlier this year, bringing to life a grungy, rundown vision of Gotham City from the mind of Matt Reeves. The movie pitted Robert Pattinson’s Batman against Paul Dano’s Riddler in a battle that ended with Gotham left in ruins.
Emily Blunt’s Poison Ivy Reclaims Gotham
Fans are speculating as to which classic Batman enemies may aim to capitalize on that chaos in The Batman 2 and one artist has put Poison Ivy forward, envisioning Emily Blunt in the role. A new image from artist “diamonddead” on Instagram imagines the A Quiet Place star going green for the role of Poison Ivy. Check out the concept design below.
Batman’s rogues gallery offers up a plethora of villains whom Matt Reeves could reimagine for his take on the world of the Dark Knight and Poison Ivy could prove a terrifying femme fatale. While Ivy’s backstory and standing as a superpowered villain may make her seem an unlikely choice for the more grounded world of Batman, her environmentalist impetus could make her a shockingly relevant foe for a modern take on the Dark Knight.
Fans have offered up a wide range of suggestions on villains Robert Pattinson’s Batman could confront in the sequel to this year’s Bat-reboot, but the image above makes a compelling case for bringing Emily Blunt into the DC Universe as Dr. Pamela Isley.
Directed by Matt Reeves, The Batman stars Robert Pattinson as the titular hero, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gil Colson, Jayme Lawson as Bella Reál, with Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Colin Farrell as the Penguin and Barry Keoghan as The Joker.
The Batman is now streaming exclusively on HBO Max. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the DC Universe and subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
