One of the most exciting aspects about Avengers: Doomsday is that many fan-favorite X-Men actors are set to make their return to the silver screen. However, many notably isn’t all actors. There are a number of glaring exceptions when it comes to the original cast of those films. Perhaps the most notable of these omissions is Famke Janssen, who played Jean Grey in the original live-action films.
Given how integral Jean Grey is, not just to those films, but the X-Men brand as a whole, it was a shock to see Famke Janssen’s name left out of the infamous “Chair Day” which unveiled the entire cast for Avengers: Doomsday. However, some fans are still holding out hope that the actress will return to her iconic X-Men role, with many believing those chairs were only a start when it came to the stars slated to appear in the film.
Is Famke Janssen In Avengers: Doomsday?
As with all actors who have ever appeared in a Marvel project, speaking about a potential return in Avengers: Doomsday has been at the top-of-mind for all their interviewers. This includes a recent chat with Screen Rant, where they asked the actress for her thoughts regarding her X-Men co-stars reuniting on the silver screen without her. While Famke Janssen confirmed she was excited for the film, she also adds that she’s far from in the know about Jean Grey’s role in the story.
“Yeah, to be honest with you, I don’t really know the storyline, so I’m not sure. It’s not my world, it’s never been my world, really, that whole comic book world. I should know by now, I’ve been in it long enough. But I’m really excited to see when it comes out. Just like everyone else, I’ll find out what those storylines are and how it all ended up.”
Of course, as with any actor, it’s very possible Famke Janssen is lying about their involvement in Avengers: Doomsday, and the studio is simply keeping her return as Jean Grey hidden. Either way, it’ll be interesting to see how the film handles the original X-Men cast after so many years, and in what capacity they’ll honor the original Marvel Girl.
