The Fantastic Four and the X-Men are coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
At this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, Kevin Feige revealed that a new Fantastic Four movie is in development at Marvel Studios. In addition, Feige teased that “mutants” are also coming to the MCU, but he didn’t offer any other details on the studio’s plans for the X-Men.
This past March, Disney closed its $71 billion acquisition of 21st Century Fox’s entertainment assets. Once the deal was complete, the film rights of characters like the Fantastic Four and the X-Men were handed over to Marvel Studios.
The latest Marvel Studios movie is Avengers: Endgame, which is still playing in theaters. This weekend, Endgame officially dethroned James Cameron’s 2009 sci-fi epic Avatar to become the highest-grossing movie of all time.
Here’s the official synopsis for Avengers: Endgame:
The grave course of events set in motion by Thanos that wiped out half the universe and fractured the Avengers ranks compels the remaining Avengers to take one final stand in Marvel Studios’ grand conclusion to twenty-two films, “Avengers: Endgame.”
Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, Avengers:Endgame stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Paul Rudd, Brie Larson, Karen Gillan, Danai Gurira, Benedict Wong, Jon Favreau, Bradley Cooper, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Josh Brolin.
