During an interview with TMZ Sports, professional boxing promoter Floyd Mayweather said he would be willing to promote the potential UFC fight between Tom Cruise and Justin Bieber.
Early last month, Canadian singer Justin Bieber unexpectedly challenged Tom Cruise to a UFC fight and taunted the Hollywood star, claiming he would “never live it down” should he refuse the challenge. While Justin Bieber later claimed he was only joking when he challenged Tom Cruise to a fight, UFC President Dana White later confirmed reports of conversations being held to make the showdown a reality.
Now, professional boxing promoter and retired professional boxer Floyd Mayweather has stated he is willing to promote the Justin Bieber and Tom Cruise fight, though he does not want to train either participant:
“If they bring me in as a promoter, then I can talk about it. But until then, I gotta stay in my lane. Gotta stay in my business.”
Floyd Mayweather and Justin Bieber previously had a relationship, with the former even training the latter to box at one point, but the two had a falling out. Since then, Floyd Mayweather and Justin Bieber have reportedly never spoken to each other.
In the meantime, Tom Cruise will soon reprise his iconic role as Pete “Maverick” Mitchell in the upcoming Top Gun sequel. Details on the film are currently under wraps, though the film will follow Maverick teaching a new generation of pilots. Included among the trainees will be a young man named Bradley Bradshaw, the son of Top Gun character Nick “Goose” Bradshaw who died tragically in the first film. Val Kilmer is set to reprise his role as Tom “Iceman” Kazansky while Jennifer Connelly plays a woman who runs a local Navy bar.
Directed by Joseph Kosinski from a script written by Peter Craig, Justin Marks, Ashley Edward Miller and Zack Stentz, Top Gun: Maverick stars Tom Cruise, Miles Teller, Val Kilmer, Kelly McGillis, Jennifer Connelly, Glen Powell, Monica Barbaro, Thomasin McKenzie, Charles Parnell, Jay Ellis, Bashir Salahuddin, Danny Ramirez, Jon Hamm, and Ed Harris.
Top Gun: Maverick is scheduled to be released in theaters on June 26, 2020.
