FOX Renews ‘Gotham’ For Season 3

The comic book and superhero genre isn’t only dominating the big screen, but the small screen as well, including many DC Comics TV shows and today it was time for another to be renewed. FOX announced that their Batman prequel series, Gotham, has officially been renewed for a third season.

This marks as the 4th DC TV show to be renewed as The CW renewed The Flash, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow and Arrow last week. While CBS has yet to announce their official pick-up for a season 2 of Supergirl, CBS CEO Leslie Moonves, CBS CEO, said last week at the Deutsche Bank 2016 Media, Internet and Telecom Conference in Florida that “We have five new shows on this year. Of those five, I believe all five of them will be renewed, and we own four of them.” which includes Supergirl.

Fox Entertainment president David Madden said this about the renewal for Gotham Season 3 in this following statement.

“It takes a very special team to tell the tales of Gotham. For the past two seasons, Bruno, Danny and John have masterfully honored the mythology of Gotham and brought it to life with depth, emotion and memorable high drama. This incredibly talented cast has redefined these iconic characters for a new generation, and we couldn’t be more proud of this show.”

While the Season 2 finale date has yet to be announced, it’s most likely going to be on Monday, May 16. Since the show’s return from their big hiatus, Gotham has introduced two major Batman villains in the second half of the season with Mr. Freeze (Nathan Darrow) and Dr. Hugo Strange (B.D. Wong).

Gotham airs on Monday nights, 8/7c on FOX.
