Frank Grillo isn’t done with the DC Universe just yet! Rick Flag Sr. is set to make his return in the Waller series in the project’s latest report.
Creature Commandos introduced a lot of characters that quickly became fan-favorites in the DC Universe. However, perhaps the most surprising character to take the internet by storm is Rick Flag Sr., portrayed by Frank Grillo. While he was far from the lead in the series, his no-nonsense demeanor, somber backstory, and shocking heart of gold quickly shot him up to being one of the most beloved characters in the franchise.
This has left fans hungry for more of Frank Grillo as the DC Universe’s most eligible zaddy. Luckily, Rick Flag Sr. is teed up to return again and again. The character is already confirmed for two projects this year, with him playing a small role in the upcoming Superman film and a major role heading into Peacemaker season 2. Though from there, the rumor mill has mostly been silent regarding the actor’s future in the role.
Will Rick Flag Sr. Return In Waller?
One rumor has managed to squeak its way out of the mill regarding Frank Grillo’s future in the DC Universe, however. According to scooper MyTimeToShineHello, Rick Flag Sr. is set to return in the upcoming Waller series. This rumor was, surprisingly, almost immediately confirmed by Grillo himself on Instagram, teasing his role in the upcoming project.
“Alongside the greatness Viola Davis,” Grillo wrote, posting an image of an article about the rumor on his story “I think we look good together”
While most fans would’ve assumed Rick Flag Sr. would return in Waller, this rumor is actually a major spoiler for Frank Grillo’s role in other DC Universe projects. Specifically, it means that the character ends up surviving the events of Superman and Peacemaker, with speculation leaning toward him dying during the events of the latter. This comes as a relief for fans of the character, though does take a bit of teeth out of the character’s upcoming appearances.
