Is The Witcher season 4 already doomed? Freya Allan speaks on Liam Hemsworth picking up the torch following Henry Cavill’s exit from the Netflix series.
One of the most controversial casting announcements of the past year was the reveal that Henry Cavill would be leaving The Witcher, with Liam Hemsworth set to replace him as Geralt of Rivia. This left many fans worried about season 4. When asked about the recasting, Princess Cirilla actress Freya Allan admitted that she was worried at first, but is now fully confident in Hemsworth.
“He’s lovely. Really, really sweet. Really, you know, grounded person, and I was dreading it for a while, if I’m honest,” Allan told Comicbook.com about Hemsworth. “But now I’m on it, and we have, thank God, a great director starting us off which has made it so much fun. My storyline is just so much great stuff to play. I’m actually quite happy.”
While Freya Allan seems comfortable with Liam Hemsworth taking up the mantle of Geralt of Rivia, it seems his time in The Witcher may be short-lived. It’s been announced that The Witcher will end with season 5, which will be filmed back-to-back with season 4. Depending on how fast the seasons come out, Hemsworth may play the character for less time than Henry Cavill!
The Truth Behind Henry Cavill’s Witcher Exit
When Henry Cavill first left The Witcher, rumors began to circulate that the actor was booted from the show because of toxic behavior. Then more rumors came out that Cavill simply wasn’t happy with how far the showrunners were straying from the source material heading into season 4.
However, it seems the truth behind Henry Cavill’s The Witcher exit simply came down to contract disputes. Netflix typically signs talent in three-season interviews. When it came time to discuss season 4, Cavill and the crew behind The Witcher simply couldn’t agree to terms, leading Liam Hemsworth to take up the mantle. Hopefully, regardless of how things ended, this new beginning is what’s best for everyone involved.
