The release history behind Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman 1984 is a bit of a complicated one. Like many other films, it was delayed throughout 2020 due to concerns over the Covid-19 pandemic. Eventually, it became the first film that Warner Bros would release in theaters and on HBO Max simultaneously.
Ultimitly Wonder Woman 1984 would only gross a little over $166M worldwide on a reported $200M budget. It was, however, a big hit on HBO Max and saw the new streaming service get a big boost in subscribers. Now it appears that the home media success continued throughout 2021.
According to The Numbers, Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman 1984 was the best-selling home media movie of 2021. Between the Blu-Ray and DVD sales, the film sold well over 1.4M copies worldwide. The next highest-selling film was The Croods: A New Age but was beaten by roughly 200K copies.
