The Fantastic Four will be making their Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in 2025 as the first project in Marvel’s Phase Six. According to a recent rumor, Marvel’s First Family may be joined in their new film by Galactus, the Devourer of Worlds, and his herald, also known as The Silver Surfer
This wouldn’t be the first time that Galactus and The Silver Surfer have appeared in a Fantastic Four project. The two are very closely tied to the family in the comics, and even made their live-action debut in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer in 2007. This newest rumor comes from The Hot Mic hosted by Jeff Sneider and John Rocha. According to Sneider, Galactus and The Silver Surfer will appear in the film due to a much more “cosmic” focus:
“I’m told that Matt Shakman is planning to go very cosmic with his Fantastic Four movie,” Sneider spoke. “Lots of 1960s elements, and that the film will feature both Galactus and the Silver Surfer.”
Details about the Fantastic Four reboot have been kept close to the chest. Aside from recent news that the script is being rewritten by Avatar: The Way of Water writer Josh Friedman, no announcements have been made about the plot or casting for the film.
What we know about the Fantastic Four movie
The Fantastic Four reboot is expected to be a fresh take on the classic Marvel characters, with a new cast. Matt Shakman is directing the movie from a screenplay by Josh Friedman, best known for his work on Avatar: The Way of Water. It is currently scheduled to hit theaters in 2025.
John Krasinski played the Earth-838 variant of Reed Richards in Sam Raimi’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, but his future as the character is currently in doubt. Krasinski’s wife Emily Blunt has said that she’s hopeful we’ll see the actor back as Richards for Fantastic Four.
