Gen V is the recently released spin-off of The Boys on Amazon Prime. During their inaugural set of episodes, the series throws shade at the Marvel Studios series Wandavision from Disney Plus, as well as beloved actor Zach Braff.
The jab comes in the first episode of The Boys spin-off. When exploring God U, the show’s star, Marie Moreau (played by Jaz Sinclair), and her roommate Emma Meyer (Lizze Broadway), come across a group of students talking about an upcoming Vought production. Gen V uses this chance to throw a jab at Wandavision, Disney Plus, and… Zach Braff.
“So my guys at Innovative are sending me out for this limited series on Vought Plus,” a fellow student remarks. “It’s an elevated superhero thing – a meditation on grief told through 70 years of sitcoms. And Zach Braff is directing.”
It’s unclear why Gen V decided to throw shade at Zach Braff, though given The Boys has a history of taking jabs at Marvel Studios, it’s no mystery why the team behind the series decided to poke fun at Wandavision and Disney Plus. Of course, given the series is yet another superhero project on Amazon Prime’s video service, it’s a shot taken in good fun.
