The Mandalorian star Giancarlo Esposito has been talking up the Star Wars series’ upcoming third season, in which he returns as Moff Gideon.

Giancarlo Esposito first appeared as the villainous Moff Gideon in The Mandalorian‘s first season, where he was seen pursuing Pedro Pascal’s Din Djarin and Grogu. His hunt for Grogu continued into the show’s second season, in which he was ultimately captured by the New Republic.

Gideon may not remain in captivity for long though, as it sounds like Giancarlo Esposito is getting ready to get stuck into a high-stakes new season of The Mandalorian.

While a first trailer for The Mandalorian Season 3 was shown at this year’s Star Wars Celebration in Anaheim, no official look at the upcoming season has been publicly released by Lucasfilm as of yet. However, Giancarlo Esposito has promised fans they won’t be disappointed.

The Moff Gideon actor recently teased an even bigger third season for The Mandalorian – no small boast, considering the second season saw the return of a digitally de-aged Luke Skywalker to the Star Wars universe.

Speaking at Thomas J. Henry’s Superhero Car Show & Comic Con, Giancarlo Esposito was asked about his Moff Gideon return in The Mandalorian Season 3. The actor said:

“I got to tell you, just to share something with you without spoiling anything, that Season 3 of The Mandalorian is off the chain! You’ll be amazed!”

Reports from Star Wars Celebration have confirmed that Season 3 will see more Mandalorians appearing as Din Djarin journeys to Mandalore for the first time since The Mandalorian began. While he may have to face off with Katee Sackhoff’s Bo-Katan Kryze, it sounds like his struggles with Moff Gideon are far from over.

Here is the synopsis for the Star Wars series:

After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travels of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic….

The Mandalorian stars Pedro Pascal, Giancarlo Esposito, Temuera Morrison, Katee Sackhoff, Ming-Na Wen, Bill Burr, Timothy Olyphant, and Carl Weathers, with Rosario Dawson joining the series as Ahsoka Tano ahead of her spin-off series. The project was created by Jon Favreau and executive produced by Dave Filoni, with episodes directed by Rick Famuyiwa, Bryce Dallas Howard, Peyton Reed, Carl Weathers, and Robert Rodriguez.

The Mandalorian’s first two seasons are available to stream on Disney Plus. Stay tuned for all the latest news surrounding the upcoming season and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
