Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 concept artist Jerad Marantz has revealed an early design for one of the film’s secondary antagonists, Taserface.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 was a film that had a lot going on in it. The film put Star-Lord and company up against three different antagonists with Karen Gillan’s Nebula also getting in our heroes’ way. Arguably the goofiest antagonist in the film was Taserface.
A member of Yondu’s crew, Taserface lead a revolt against his former leader after the character continuously showed what he felt was a weakness whenever he dealt with Star-Lord. Ultimately Yondu takes his revenge on his former crewmate, but not before Taserface starts a series of events that lead to his former boss’s death. His name quickly became a reoccurring joke in the film as he said it with full sincerity as, quite literally, every other character laughed in his face.
The design for Taserface is one that is instantly recognizable thanks to how grotesque and alien it looks. Once upon a time, however, the Guardians of the Galaxy character had a completely different look. In a recent post, Marvel concept artist shared an early design of Taserface that looks nothing like what ended up on film:

Production for the third film, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was scheduled to begin early this year. The project was put on hold following Disney’s decision to remove James Gunn as the director of the final chapter in the trilogy. Gunn has since been reinstated as the film’s director and will begin production on the third film after completing work on The Suicide Squad for Warner Bros. and DC. Details on the third chapter of Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy are currently unknown, though the film will likely explore the ramifications of the universe-changing events in Avengers: Endgame.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is expected to star Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki, and Sean Gunn.
