How the Ravager stole Christmas!

The first batch of artwork for Marvel’s upcoming The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special sends fans a “Season’s Grootings” and teases a possible Yondu Udonta appearance in the special.

The Guardians of the Galaxy will be appearing on Disney Plus for the holiday special this December, ahead of their final big-screen outing in next year’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. The first promo art for the holiday special has surfaced online, giving fans an idea of what to expect.

Early artwork promoting The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special claims “Yondu ruined Christmas,” hinting the Ravager could be making an appearance in the Disney Plus film.

Yondu Returns For The Holidays

Michael Rooker’s Yondu Udonta was last seen in live action in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which ended with the character’s death. Could he be back for The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special?

It seems unlikely Yondu’s emotional death will be undone in the holiday special, however it’s possible Rooker will reprise the role in flashback sequences. Given that Chris Pratt’s Peter Quill was raised by Yondu, the “Yondu ruined Christmas” art could be in reference to Peter missing out on Christmases as a child thanks to his adoptive alien father.

The art also includes the phrase “I don’t know what Christmas is, but Christmas time is here,” which could well be uttered by Mantis or Drax. Another image wishes fans “A very Guardians Christmas,” while two separate pictures reference Yondu’s Grinch-like antics.

The Guardians recently appeared in Thor: Love and Thunder. Here is the synopsis:

The film finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.

Directed by Taika Waititi and produced by Kevin Feige and Brad Winderbaum, the Thor solo film stars Chris Hemsworth, Christian Bale, Tessa Thompson, Jaimie Alexander, Taika Waititi, Russell Crowe, Natalie Portman, Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper.

Thor: Love and Thunder is now playing in theaters. Meanwhile, The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special will be available on Disney Plus this holiday season.
