Wong returns to the MCU in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law‘s third episode, “The People vs. Emil Blonsky,” and his hilarious job history is revealed.
Benedict Wong’s Wong is the MCU’s current Sorcerer Supreme, which has to look pretty impressive on a resume. Before this, he was already a powerful sorcerer and the librarian of Kamar-Taj, charged with guarding various mystical volumes.
However, She-Hulk Episode 3 offers a glimpse of Wong’s work history and before he became the librarian of Kamar-Taj, he had a rather more mundane job.
Wong’s Work History
She-Hulk Episode 3 opens with Tim Roth’s Emil Blonsky revealing it was Wong who previously released him from prison. Tatiana Maslany’s Jennifer Walters then sets about tracking down the Sorcerer Supreme.
Jen’s paralegal Nikki Ramos (Ginger Gonzaga) looks up Wong, finding him on social media and taking a look at his work history. Both his roles as Sorcerer Supreme and librarian are listed there, but so is his former job as a Target sales associate.
Apparently Kamar-Taj has a Target, as that is the location is listed under this entry on Wong’s profile. The blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment in She-Hulk‘s latest episode reveals Wong spent 9 years in this role before he apparently found a new direction in life and became a sorcerer. Although, given Wong worked at the Kamar-Taj Target, it’s also possible this job was funding his early sorcery studies.
This fun moment is the latest example of She-Hulk‘s more comedic take on the MCU. The series peers past the epic battles seen in the movies and into the everyday lives of Marvel’s superheroes and villains.
