Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 director James Gunn confirmed an adorable theory relating to Groot in the second film.
Director James Gunn has often discussed Marvel theories and Easter eggs with fans about Guardians of the Galaxy and he recently confirmed another idea about Baby Groot. Most recently the director revealed a joke that Disney made him cut, where Drax says he’d like to kill many people on Earth. But the new Groot theory coming from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is a little more adorable than Drax’s murderous tendencies.
A fan tweeted James Gunn with a theory from her 7-year old daughter, suggesting that the pot Baby Groot is eating candy from on the ship is the same one he grew in after Groot’s death in the first film. Gunn responded saying that he liked the idea and confirmed it, also saying the fan can tell her daughter that she invented it. Fans are still yet to find the secret Guardians of the Galaxy Easter egg, but the director says 60% of it has been guessed. For now, take a look at the Groot theory below.
I like that theory, so let's say yes. And you can tell your 7-year-old she invented it. 😀 https://t.co/BbMDc0lgEY

While production on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was scheduled to begin early this year, the project was put on hold following Disney’s decision to remove James Gunn as the director of the final chapter in the trilogy. Now, Gunn will begin production on the third film after completing work on The Suicide Squad for Warner Bros. and DC, which he is currently editing from the safety from his home due to the ongoing crisis. Details on the third chapter of Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy are currently unknown, though the film will likely explore the ramifications of the universe-changing events in Avengers: Endgame.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is expected to star Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki and Sean Gunn.
