All eight Harry Potter films will be made available on NBC’s new steaming service Peacock following the films’ exit from HBO Max.

The Harry Potter franchise has had something of a bizarre time lately. The film’s latest installment Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald met with negative reviews and failed to impress at the box office. While another installment in the franchise is still happening, the Harry Potter brand has come under fire thanks to series creator J.K. Rowling transphobic views. This, however, has not stopped studios from battling over the film’s streaming rights.

Earlier this year, HBO MAX obtained the streaming rights to the Harry Potter series right before the streaming platform launched. The film rights to the series had since left Warner Bros and are currently owned by Universal. It was revealed, however, that the films would be leaving the new streaming platform later this month and now we know why.

All eight of the Harry Potter films will soon be made available to stream on NBC’s new streaming platform Peacock following the franchise’s departure from HBO MAX. All of the films will be made available to stream on the new service later this year. The dates they will be made available, however, have not been revealed.

What do you all make of this news? Are you surprised to hear that the Harry Potter films will be streaming on Peacock? Would you rather they stayed on HBO MAX? Let us know what you think in the comments below!

Here is the official synopsis for the most recent entry in the Harry Potter franchise, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald:

At the end of the first film, the powerful dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald was captured by MACUSA (Magical Congress of the United States of America), with the help of Newt Scamander. But, making good on his threat, Grindelwald escaped custody and has set about gathering followers, most unsuspecting of his true agenda: to raise wizards and witches up to rule over all non-magical beings.

In an effort to thwart Grindelwald’s plans, Albus Dumbledore enlists his former student Newt Scamander, who agrees to help, unaware of the dangers that lie ahead. Lines are drawn as love and loyalty are tested, even among the truest friends and family, in an increasingly divided wizarding world.

Directed by David Yates from a script written by J. K. Rowling, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald stars Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Zoë Kravitz, Callum Turner, Claudia Kim, William Nadylam, Kevin Guthrie, Jude Law, and Johnny Depp.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald is now available on Digital HD, 4K Ultra HD, Blu-Ray, and DVD. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the Harry Potter franchise and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content!
