In January of this year, Hawkeye actor Jeremy Renner nearly lost his life saving his nephew from a snow plow accident. In his first interview since the accident, Renner talks about his will to survive in spite of the horrific injuries.
The public was unsure of just how severe the injuries were that Jeremy Renner suffered. They were initially described in vague terms such as “blunt chest trauma” and “other orthopedic injuries.” However, the trailer for the upcoming interview reveals the full extent of the injuries, with interviewer Diane Sawyer saying Renner sustained “eight ribs broken in 14 places. Right knee, right ankle broken… left ankle broken. Right shoulder broken. Face, eye socket, jaw broken. Lung collapsed.”
What makes the injuries even more bone-chilling was the fact that Jeremy Renner claims to have been awake the entire time, saying that he remembers “all of it”. However, through all of the pain, Renner never gave up hope that he would recover.
“I chose to survive,” he told Sawyer. “You’re not gonna kill me. No way!”
The full interview will air April 6 on ABC and will debut on Disney Plus on April 7. The trailer can be seen below:
