‘Justice League’ Star Henry Cavill Sports Classic Superman Look In New Image

A cool new piece of fan art imagines Justice League star Henry Cavill with a classic Superman look for his return as the Man of Steel in the DC Extended Universe.

British actor Henry Cavill made his debut as Superman in 2013, playing an inexperienced version of the character in Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel. Henry Cavill then reprised his role in 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, where his character sacrificed himself to kill Doomsday. However, Superman came back from the dead a year later, helping the rest of the Justice League take down Steppenwolf and his army of Parademons in the first live-action Justice League movie.

Now, Henry Cavill’s future as Superman is uncertain but fans still like to envision what his return as the Last Son of Krypton could look like. In a new piece by digital artist jscomicart, Henry Cavill is shown with the iconic Superman hair curl and a much brighter suit than the one seen in his three outings as the DC Comics hero.

Henry Cavill reportedly still wants to play Superman although he has been rather ambiguous regarding his future as the character. The 36-year-old actor has even said that he wants to return as Superman, but he has no deal to do so in place. Last year, Henry Cavill walked away from negotiations to reprise his role for a cameo in Zachary Levi’s first cinematic solo outing as Shazam only for his character to still be featured in the final scene of the movie. Shazam! was able to get away with the lack of Henry Cavill’s presence by simply not showing Superman’s face during his cameo.

For now, Henry Cavill will trade in his Superman suit for the lead role in Netflix’s highly-anticipated adaptation of The Witcher. Rumors have also suggested that Warner Bros. will be focusing on Supergirl in the DCEU going forward instead of Superman. 22 Jump Street scribe Oren Uziel is writing the script for the Supergirl film which will be an origin story for Kara Zor-El.

Henry Cavill’s Superman was last seen in Justice League. Here is the official synopsis for the movie:

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Justice League stars Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Gal Gadot as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry/Aquaman, Ezra Miller as Barry Allen/The Flash, Ray Fisher as Victor Stone/Cyborg, Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman, Ciaran Hinds as Steppenwolf, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Amber Heard as Mera, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, J.K. Simmons as Commissioner James Gordon, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Connie Nielsen as Queen Hippolyta, Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko and Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor.

Justice League is now available on Blu-Ray, DVD and Digital HD. Stay tuned for the latest news on Henry Cavill, Superman and the future of the DC Extended Universe.
