Henry Cavill has been a tour de force in the nerd community these past few years. Reaching the limelight as Superman, the actor has continued his journey through iconic roles with Mission Impossible, The Witcher, and his upcoming projects like Warhammer 40k and Highlander.
Yet the one corner of nerd culture Henry Cavill hasn’t been able to touch is the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This is likely because the actor played Superman in the failed DC Extended Universe, but it’s still a true shame for fans of his work that they may never see him don another set of spandex on the silver screen.
One role fans have been begging for Henry Cavill to play is Wolverine. He certainly has the build for it, and the hairy chest he donned in his Superman film proves he has the follicles. Artist 21xFour has turned this dream into a reality with a new piece of fan art, transforming the Man of Steel into the iconic X-Men character.
Dreams of Henry Cavill playing Wolverine in Deadpool 3 aren’t unfounded either. Rumors suggest that the film will feature multiple actors playing the fork-fingered mutant alongside Hugh Jackman, leaving the door open for Cavill to make a surprise cameo. Other actors rumored to appear in the project include Daniel Radcliffe and Dafne Keen.
Is Henry Cavill actually joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
Wolverine also isn’t the only role Henry Cavill could play in the MCU. Recent rumors also reveal that the actor has joined the Marvel universe in a secret role. While some speculate that he’ll still be playing the iconic X-Men in the main timeline, other fans have higher hopes for the hero.
Captain Britain is a name that keeps coming up in speculation about who Henry Cavill could play in the MCU. The role would allow the actor to use his actual accent and the character is a big enough hero in the comics that he could carry his own movie. It doesn’t help that he’s similar to Superman as well!
Regardless of if Henry Cavill joins the MCU, as Wolverine or otherwise, it’s clear the actor has a long and successful career ahead of him after being canned as Superman. If the geeks truly shall inherit the earth, it seems Cavill is going to be the one to lead the charge!
