Hugh Jackman Hints At Dual Wolverine Role In ‘Deadpool 3’

A Wolverine multiverse is coming!

After putting down the claws for six years, Hugh Jackman is set to return as Wolverine alongside Ryan Reynolds’ Merc with the Mouth in the upcoming Deadpool 3. However, it seems that Jackman may be playing more than one version of the character in the upcoming film.

This revelation comes off the back of an interview that Jackman did with the French outlet La Parisien to promote his new film The Son. During the interview, he remarks about how much he’ll be enjoying the French food before training for his role:

“Yes, it will even be a dual role. Ryan and I have been friends for twenty years; we have a lot of fun together. We are filming this summer. That’s why I’m so happy to be in Paris right now and to be able to enjoy French gastronomy. Because very soon, I’m going to have to put myself on a strict diet to remake my Wolverine body: steamed chicken and broccoli!”

It wasn’t specified what exactly Jackman meant by having a “Dual role” in the upcoming film. However, this wouldn’t be the first time we saw multiple versions of a beloved character in a Marvel film. With Marvel’s recent focus on the multiverse, entire films like Spider-Man: No Way Home have revolved around the concept of meeting alternate reality versions of fan-favorite characters, so it almost seems expected that we’ll be seeing multiple versions of our favorite X-Men once they make their return to the big screen.

Plot details for Deadpool 3 are being kept under wraps, but rumors have circulated that the film will explore the idea of the Merc with the Mouth traveling through different timelines and dimensions. This could open the door for the character to interact with other Marvel heroes, or even revisit events from past films in the X-Men franchise.

Who else is attached to the Deadpool threequel?

Shawn Levy is directing Deadpool 3 after working with Ryan Reynolds on Free Guy and The Adam Project. The upcoming Marvel Studios project also marks a reunion between Levy and Hugh Jackman as the two worked together on Real Steel.

Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are developing the Deadpool 3 script after penning the first two installments in the series. The Molyneux sisters worked on a previous draft of the project.

Deadpool 3 is currently scheduled to hit theaters on November 8, 2024. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
