Insomniac Games has confirmed Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales as a standalone experience separate from the original game.
Despite confusing remarks from Sony vice president Simon Rutter who described the new Spider-Man game to The Telegraph as “an expansion and an enhancement to the previous game,” developer Insomniac has now confirmed via their official Twitter account that the new title coming exclusively to PlayStation 5 later this year will indeed be a standalone game.

According to Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales will be significantly smaller than Marvel’s Spider-Man and will be available as a separate product. An insider with knowledge of the project confirmed to the outlet that the new game will be comparable in size to Uncharted: Lost Legacy, Naughty Dog’s Uncharted 4 spin-off which sold for $40 rather than the $60 price tag of a full game. It’s possible the new Miles Morales game could take this route as well.
Insomniac announced Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, the developers follow up to its 2018 Spidey game with an announcement trailer during Sony’s PlayStation 5 reveal event on Thursday. The game will follow Miles Morales as the young hero takes the spotlight for his own adventure, arriving in time for the Holiday 2020 season.
