The Suicide Squad star Jai Courtney reveals details about a hilarious scene in the upcoming film from James Gunn.

Ahead of appearing in Netflix’s Stateless, Jai Courtney opened up to Variety about what to expect from the The Suicide Squad, explaining why James Gunn is the perfect director to deliver the craziness of the team. Courtney says that the director’s unique comedic approach means the audience will have a lot of fun with the upcoming sequel. Fans already got their first look at the star’s new costume in the set photos that surfaced last year.

“I think it’s kind of got a different flavor. There’s a whole bunch of new characters. James Gunn has an approach to things that is uniquely his; he pulls a lot of that into the ‘Suicide Squad’ world. And I think that it fits really well, and audiences are going to have a lot of fun with it.”

When asked about his favorite day on-set, Jai Courtney went on to reveal details on a scene from the sequel, saying that he and a group of his co-stars got very wet in one sequence. He revealed that they were treading water for hours in a tank with styrofoam in their costumes to keep them afloat. It doesn’t tell us too much about the plot of the film, but it’ll be interesting to see where the sequence is in the film when The Suicide Squad finally arrives in theaters.

“I won’t to say too much, but there’s a particular sequence when I get very wet, and a few other people do, and hilarity ensued when it came to that. When you’re spending hours upon hours in a water tank with a bunch of people treading water, and you’ve got Styrofoam stuffed into every crevice of your costume to try and take the load off and because it’s 4 a.m., it gets quite ridiculous.”

However, James Gunn is expected to deliver on the fresh take on the team in his upcoming movie.
