Peacemaker series creator James Gunn updates fans on when they should expect Season 2 to begin production.

Back in January, HBO Max debuted Peacemaker, the first original television series set within the canon of the DC Extended Universe. Created by James Gunn, it was a sequel spinoff of his film The Suicide Squad featuring John Cena as the title character. The series became acclaimed by critics and audiences alike, and a second season was officially confirmed to be in development.

James Gunn has been pretty busy lately, because right after he completed work on The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker Season 1, he returned to Marvel Studios to finally bring the long-awaited Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 to life. Gunn and company are currently hard at work in post-production on the sequel, but that didn’t stop him from giving fans a brief update on how Season 2 of his John Cena DCEU series is being developed.

More Peacemaker is on the way.

While celebrating Leota Adebayo actress Danielle Brooks’ birthday on his official Instagram, James Gunn updated fans on when we should expect production on Peacemaker Season 2 to begin:

While his current obligation to Marvel Studios with both Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and its preceding Holiday Special is keeping him hard at work, James Gunn also has his sights on a big future with the DCEU. He certainly has some massive plans for Season 2 of Peacemaker, and it appears he also has some plans for Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) and at least another DCEU project.

Here is the synopsis for James Gunn’s Peacemaker:

PEACEMAKER explores the continuing story of the character that John Cena reprises in the aftermath of executive producer James Gunn’s 2021 film The Suicide Squad – a compellingly vainglorious man who believes in peace at any cost, no matter how many people he has to kill to get it!

The DCEU series was created by James Gunn, who wrote all the episodes and directed five of them. The first season of the HBO Max series consisted of eight episodes, with Brad Anderson, Jody Hill, and Rosemary Rodriguez also directing episodes. Clint Mansell and Kevin Kiner composed the DC show’s score.

The HBO Max series stars John Cena, Danielle Brooks, Freddie Stroma, Chukwudi Iwuji, Jennifer Holland, Steve Agee, and Robert Patrick.

Peacemaker season one is streaming on HBO Max. Stay tuned for all the latest news surrounding the future of James Gunn and the DCEU, and subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
