James Gunn says Peacemaker season two is safe after Warner Bros. recently canceled Batgirl‘s release.

Warner Bros. is going through some major changes behind the scenes at the moment following their merger with Discovery. News broke on Tuesday that Batgirl had been canceled, and The Hollywood Reporter is suggesting the studio will delay Shazam! Fury of the Gods and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom next. It was also announced this week that Grant Gustin’s The Flash series is ending with season nine.

Is Peacemaker Safe?

With so much uncertainty surrounding DC’s upcoming slate, some fans speculate that other projects could get canceled, like Batgirl. Not many DC shows have hit HBO Max, but Peacemaker has been a success for the streamer, and a second season was confirmed in February. With Warner Bros. making major moves as of late, James Gunn responded to a fan on Twitter sharing that Peacemaker season two is safe.

Here is the synopsis for the HBO Max original series:

PEACEMAKER explores the continuing story of the character that John Cena reprises in the aftermath of executive producer James Gunn’s 2021 film The Suicide Squad – a compellingly vainglorious man who believes in peace at any cost, no matter how many people he has to kill to get it!

The series was created by James Gunn, who wrote all the episodes and directed five of them. The first season of the HBO Max series consisted of eight episodes, with Brad Anderson, Jody Hill, and Rosemary Rodriguez also directing episodes. Clint Mansell and Kevin Kiner composed the DC show’s score.

The HBO Max series stars John Cena, Danielle Brooks, Freddie Stroma, Chukwudi Iwuji, Jennifer Holland, Steve Agee, and Robert Patrick.

Peacemaker season one is streaming on HBO Max. Stay tuned for all the latest news surrounding the future of DC, and subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
