Jimmy Olsen is heading back to the big screen! James Gunn shares the first official look at Skyler Gisondo as Superman’s best pal in the DC Universe.
Over the past few months fans have been frothing at the mouth over Superman set photos that show off the heroes of the DC Universe, including a potential Green Lantern cameo. However, James Gunn has made it clear he cares just as much about the Daily Planet staff like Skyler Gisondo’s Jimmy Olsen and Wendell Pierce’s Perry White as he does about the film’s fellow superheroes.
While fans didn’t get much from the Daily Planet during the film’s production, James Gunn has come to rectify that issue. The Superman director took to social media to celebrate the anniversary of Jimmy Olsen’s creation with the first official photo of Skyler Gisondo on the set of the upcoming DC Universe film:
Jimmy Olsen’s Future In The DC Universe
Many consider Skyler Gisondo to be a picture perfect casting for the Daily Planet’s third most well known reporter in Jimmy Olsen. That’s certainly important, especially if James Gunn hopes for the cast of Superman to continue on in future DC Universe projects, including any potential sequels almost guaranteed to enter production if the first film is a success.
However, Jimmy Olsen is a character much more versatile than being a supporting character in a Superman film. The Daily Planet reporter infamously had his own comic run, which was actually the first comic to introduce Darkseid into the DC Universe. And given how much James Gunn loves his obscure comic book trivia, it wouldn’t be a shock to see Skyler Gisondo helming his own Max series depending on how his portrayal is received!
