Does Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow have a brand new villain? Jason Momoa tips his hand on Lobo’s role in the upcoming DC Universe revival.

It’s odd to think that Jason Momoa has become one of the biggest faces associated with the DC Universe. His Aquaman films were some of the most successful in the old regime and, due to a number of behind the scenes issues and studio politicking, he was one of the few actors that was kept around for almost the entire duration of the franchise. And with Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, he’s set to continue his streak by taking on the role of the iconic villain Lobo.

Lobo is a role people have been clamoring for Jason Momoa to play for years, which includes the actor himself. So when it was announced that he was finally playing the Main Man in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, fans were itching for any sort of set photo they could get. However, the DC Universe seems to be keeping the villain’s design rather close to their chest. Though it seems, at the very least, Momoa himself is confident in the direction that they’re taking the character.

“Well, this is the role I’ve always wanted to play. That’s the comic I loved, so I’m really nervous about it,” Momoa explained to Screen Rant. “It’s kind of a no-brainer to play this character. It’s pretty big. I don’t want to give away too much, but I mean, we look pretty dead on, exactly like the character, and he’s pretty rough and gruff and… I’ll say the bike’s really cool.”

What Role Will Lobo Play In Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow?

The one question hovering over this situation is how big of a role Lobo will have in the upcoming film. While the villain was in the original draft of the Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow comic as a main character, there’s been no word on how the storyline will change to accommodate Jason Momoa’s presence as the DC Universe’s biggest Bastich. Momoa himself didn’t speak much on the topic, though he did tease that his role may be smaller than some fans may want.

“I hope so. I hope so. I hope so,” Momoa wishes when speaking on his future as Lobo. “It’s her movie, so it’s great. I just come in for a little bit.”

It’s understandable that the writer and director of Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow wouldn’t want Lobo to have too big of a role. The story is already a beefy one to try to fit into two hours. Jason Momoa is also a big enough star that increasing his role as the villain may take away from Milly Alcock’s debut as the Girl of Steel. Though at the very least, it seems Momoa has high hopes for his future in the rest of the DC Universe.
