Is the Main Man coming to the DC Universe? It seems Jason Momoa may have just been confirmed to be playing Lobo following the release of Aquaman 2.
Rumors that Jason Momoa would be playing Lobo in the new DCU have been swirling around ever since James Gunn and Peter Safran took charge of DC Studios. However, there hasn’t exactly been too much evidence for it beyond the word of scoopers. This changed recently following the release of Aquaman 2, with a fan commenting on the post by Peter Safran’s wife, Natalia Safran, that featured Jason Momoa to “bring the Lobo,” to which she responded, “You know it.”
It’s no secret that Jason Momoa is a massive fan of Lobo. Everything about the actor also screams that he’s the perfect choice to play the Bastich slayer from outer space. While it’s a shame that his time as Aquaman has come to an end with Aquaman 2, at least fans will see him get a second wind in James Gunn and Peter Safran’s new DCU.
The future of the DC Universe
James Gunn and Peter Safran told journalists that their vision for the DC Universe includes locked scripts, wiggle room, and a unified storyline across film, television, animation, and video game projects. The two explained that the DC Universe could bring back elements from previous DC regimes, meaning that their eight-to-year plan is not a full reboot.
Shazam! Fury of the Gods, The Flash, Blue Beetle, and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom have all been released following the announcement of the new DC Universe, all four projects struggling at the box office. Will the characters from those movies make appearances in the new DCU? Only Gunn and Safran know.
