Jeff Goldblum Responds To ‘Thor: Love And Thunder’ Return Rumors

The 'Jurassic World Dominion' star responds to rumors of his return!

Jeff Goldblum Thor Love and Thunder

Jeff Goldblum has a humorous response to those rumors he’ll return for Thor: Love and Thunder.

In 2017, Marvel Studios released Thor: Ragnarok. The film, which was directed by Academy Award-winner Taika Waititi was widely considered to be a breath of fresh air for the God of Thunder (Chris Hemsworth), whose standalone films were often considered by some fans as the least-interesting of the numerous Avengers in the MCU. The film was highly-regarded for its irreverent sense of humor as well as its use of certain characters, including The Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum).

Last year, Taika Waititi and Jeff Goldblum were spotted hanging out together, which prompted speculation that this meant that The Grandmaster would be returning for Thor: Love and Thunder. Well, Goldblum responded to rumors while promoting his new film, Jurassic World Dominion in an interview with Esquire:

“Am I going to be in Love and Thunder? The truth is, and I can say it now because the trailer has come out, I appear in it. It’s my most challenging role to date, and I believe my highest accomplishment. I’m not seen, visually. You never see me. And you don’t hear me. Nor am I referred to, I believe, in any scene. I am sensed, only vibrationally. It’s up to the viewer to pick up on that… But you will feel something. And that will be me.”

Don’t expect the return of The Grandmaster.

Based on these sarcastic comments from Jeff Goldblum, it’s safe to say that we will likely not see The Grandmaster in Thor: Love and Thunder. The fate of his character was revealed at the end of Ragnarok, in which he is shown to be alive in the post-credits scene, but he has yet to make another appearance since then.

Here is the synopsis for Thor: Love and Thunder:

The film finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.

Directed by Taika Waititi and produced by Kevin Feige and Brad Winderbaum, the film stars Chris Hemsworth, Christian Bale, Tessa Thompson, Taika Waititi, Russell Crowe, Natalie Portman, Jaimie Alexander, Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper.

Thor: Love and Thunder hits theaters on July 8, 2022. Stay tuned for all the latest news surrounding the upcoming film, and the future of Jeff Goldblum’s Grandmaster, and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
