Jeffrey Dean Morgan has taken to Twitter to call out the backlash from some Walking Dead viewers after Melissa McBride exited the planned spin-off about Carol and Daryl.

News broke earlier this week that Melissa McBride, who plays Carol Peletier in AMC’s The Walking Dead, was exiting the planned spin-off that would have been centered on her character and Norman Reedus’ Daryl Dixon. The spin-off series is due to start filming in Europe this summer and McBride backed out as moving to Europe for the duration of production proved to be “logistically untenable” for the actress.

Following the news, a few Walking Dead viewers took to social media to air their grievances and, unfortunately, some pinned blame on McBride’s co-star, Norman Reedus. Some social media users speculated that Reedus was the one who had asked that production be moved to Europe, leading to McBride dropping out of the series. Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who played Negan in The Walking Dead, responded to the backlash on Twitter, calling out toxic fans who he said were “Attacking norm for crap he has NOTHING to do with.” Read the actor’s tweet in full below:

Jeffrey Dean Morgan went on to point out that “Norman had nothing to do with picking location… Rarely does [an] actor have that power.”

The final part of The Walking Dead‘s final season is due to air later this year.

The Walking Dead stars Norman Reedus, Melissa McBride, Danai Gurira, Josh McDermitt, Christian Serratos, Seth Gilliam, Ross Marquand, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Khary Payton, Cooper Andrews, Callan McAuliffe, Nadia Hilker, Eleanor Matsuura, Lauren Ridloff, Cailey Fleming, Cassady McClincy, Ryan Hurst, and Samantha Morton as Alpha.
