Charlie Cox broke the barrier between the world of Marvel’s Netflix properties and the Marvel Cinematic Universe with his appearance in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. With his own show on the horizon, Cox’s Netflix co-star Krysten Ritter, who played Jessica Jones in her titular series, weighs in on if she’d return as Jessica Jones in the MCU.
The tale of Marvel’s Netflix heroes is a long and complicated one. The deal was brokered at a time where Netflix was the only game in town when it came to streaming services. While the shows had some ties and references to the MCU, they mostly stood as their own thing, similar to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. on ABC. The approach seemed to work well, with almost every show released coming out to critical acclaim (sorry, Iron Fist fans). However, once Disney decided to get into the streaming game, the hammer immediately came down on the deal, cancelling five shows in various stages of production including Jessica Jones. Ritter was recently asked if she would ever consider reprising her character in the MCU proper, to which she revealed that she would love to:
“I have no idea; I hope so! I think that people love Jessica; I know because I live it,” Ritter said during a guest appearance on the podcast Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum. “Marvel is so secretive – I am just putting that out there that, of course, I would be there in a second. I would have my boots and jacket ready to rock.”
Krysten Ritter wouldn’t be the only Marvel-Netflix actor in the MCU if she made her return. While everyone knows Cox’s Daredevil and Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin have already appeared in MCU projects, Jon Bernthal’s Punisher is also set to appear in the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again. Other Netflix actors such as Jessica Henwick, Mike Colter and Finn Jones have all expressed interest in returning to the world of Marvel.
Is Jessica Jones Reuniting With Daredevil?
According to reliable leaker MyTimeToShineHello on Twitter, Krysten Ritter will be back in the upcoming Daredevil revival from Marvel Studios. Ritter has already expressed her desire to return to the role after playing the character in three seasons of her solo series and The Defenders crossover event. The account went on to share that the MCU’s version of Jessica Jones would be both a reboot and a continuation of the Netflix series.
Here is the synopsis for Netflix’s Jessica Jones:
When Jessica (Krysten Ritter) crosses paths with a highly intelligent psychopath, she and Trish (Rachael Taylor) must repair their fractured relationship and team up to take him down. But a devastating loss reveals their conflicting ideas of heroism and sets them on a collision course that will forever change them both.
Created by Melissa Rosenberg, the series starred Krysten Ritter, Rachel Taylor, Eka Darville, Benjamin Walker, Jeremy Bobb, Sarita Choudhury, Tiffany Mack, Jessica Frances Dukes, Aneesh Sheth, Rebecca DeMornay, and Carrie-Anne Moss.
