Rotten Tomatoes Score For Joaquin Phoenix’s ‘Joker’ Movie Revealed

Rotten Tomatoes has officially revealed the initial score for Joaquin Phoenix’s standalone Joker film.

The new Joker film from Todd Phillips features Joaquin Phoenix in the starring role as the titular Clown Prince of Crime. The film which has landed at 85% for its initial Rotten Tomatoes score has been praised for its masterful new take on the character in his first-ever origin story.

Joker follows Joaquin Phoenix as a failed comedian who later becomes The Joker in the film that taps into Martin Scorsese classics such as Taxi DriverRaging Bull, and The King of Comedy as it dials back the clock, setting the film in a gritty and grounded 1980s Gotham City. Todd Phillips directed Joker from a script he co-wrote the script with Scott Silver (8 Mile).

Joker premiered at the Venice International Film Festival today ahead of its U.S. debut in Toronto. The highly-anticipated movie opens in theaters nationwide this October.
