Co-creator of Deathstroke the Terminator himself, Marv Wolfman met actor Joe Manganiello for lunch today and shared with the internet his confidence in the actor for the role.
Wolfman shared the photo on Facebook along with the caption:
“After a great lunch with Joe Manganiello, I feel more confident than ever that we got both the Slade Wilson the movies need and the Deathstroke great movies deserve.”
Manganiello replied to Wolfman via Twitter that the pleasure was all his:
The pleasure was all mine Marv! pic.twitter.com/6uFpjPgMbO

Rumors that Manganiello was no longer going to play the role of Deathstroke in The Batman began to swirl after the actor recently revealed that he was no longer positive he would be suiting up as the supervillain. Batman himself, Ben Affleck and Argo scribe Chris Terrio had turned in a draft the studio was pleased with that featured Deathstroke as the villain but the film was reported to be going under a page one rewrite after Matt Reeves signed on to direct.
While it was never confirmed whether or not Manganiello had lost the role, this meeting certainly gives hope that he’ll still get to play Deathstroke once the principal photography gets underway which will likely be sometime in 2018 as Reeves will be busy fulfilling his contractual obligations to his new film War for the Planet of the Apes until June. The director will also be tied up promoting the film until it’s release on July 14.
The Batman currently stars Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/Batman, J.K. Simmons as Commissioner James Gordon and Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth. The film does not yet have a release date.

Batman Villains Who Deserve A Chance On The Big Screen
Batman’s been on the big screen a handful of times, but he still has so many enemies who’ve never been in a movie. I love the Joker, but man-oh-man am I tired of seeing him. Batman’s got one of the most impressive, deep rogue galleries in all of comics, and I think it’s time more of them were given the love they deserve!
Some of these characters might have been in Lego Batman (if Kite-Man was anyone could have been) but that doesn’t really count as an introduction. Look at how well-known someone like Slipknot is now thanks to Suicide Squad. Well, all these people on the list are way better than Slipknot, and should be seen taking on a member of the Bat-family on the big screen soon.
Did I forget your favorite Batman villain? Well let me know in the comment section why I was wrong to not include deadly foes like the Man-Bat and Mad Hatter. Hit Next to find out more about 10 Batman villains who deserve a shot on the big screen.
