John Boyega Responds To Fan Calls To Replace Jonathan Majors As Kang In The MCU

The perfect replacement?

John Boyega had a breakout performance as Finn in the Star Wars sequels. Is it possible he’ll take over as the MCU’s Kang the Conqueror after Jonathan Majors was fired by Marvel Studios?

Earlier this week, the verdict was reached in Jonathan Majors’ recent lawsuit, finding the actor guilty of harassment and assault. This led to the actor officially being fired by Marvel Studios. Of course, the internet began to do what it does best: wildly fan-cast anyone and everyone as the MCU’s new Kang the Conqueror. One such actor was John Boyega, best known for playing Finn in the Star Wars sequels, who gave a very blunt rejection of the offer on social media.

Given John Boyega’s rocky history with Disney during his time in Star Wars, it’s understandable he wouldn’t want to jump into another cinematic universe with Marvel Studios. Despite this, it may be a bit premature to talk about who to recast as Kang with Jonathan Majors receiving his guilty verdict. The wounds are still fresh, so Kang’s role in the MCU should be far down on everyone’s priority list.

When will Jonathan Majors be sentenced?

Judge Michael Gaffey has scheduled the sentencing for Jonathan Majors on February 6th. Majors, now convicted of these misdemeanor charges, faces the possibility of up to a year in jail. The conclusion of this high-profile case brings a close to a trial that has garnered significant attention, particularly due to Majors’ prominence in Hollywood.

“At the Manhattan D.A.’s Office, we are committed to centering survivors in all of our work,” said District Attorney Alvin Bragg in a statement after the verdict. “The evidence presented throughout this trial illustrated a cycle of psychological and emotional abuse, and escalating patterns of coercion far too common across the many intimate partner violence cases we see each and every day.”

“Today, a jury determined that pattern of abuse and coercion culminated with Mr. Majors assaulting and harassing his girlfriend, “Bragg added. “We thank the jury for its service and the survivor for bravely telling her story despite having to relive her trauma on the stand.”

Jonathan Majors was slated to play a significant role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Kang, with major appearances planned in upcoming MCU films Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars. His portrayal of Kang and his various variants was first introduced in Marvel’s Loki and further expanded in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
