John Wick: Chapter 4 is set to premiere in Japan later this year. However, the film’s Twitter account announced a shockingly fitting name change for the film’s foreign release.
The John Wick series has made a name for itself as one of the best action series in recent memory, with Chapter 4 wrapping the series up in a perfect bow (at least, until Chapter 5 comes out). The film is set to release in Japan in just a few months, with the Japanese Twitter account confirming the film’s title to be changed to John Wick: Consequences abroad:
While this article will avoid spoilers, John Wick: Chapter 4 had a large focus on the consequences of the actions of Keanu Reeves’ titular character. The film spells it out at least half a dozen times, with it being one of the final words said in the film’s climax. John Wick: Consequences is certainly a fitting name for a Japanese release, even if it does buck the series’ trend of separating itself into chapters.
The future of the John Wick franchise
Keanu Reeves and other John Wick cast members recently joined the cast of the spin-off movie Ballerina. The project is being directed by Underworld and Live Free or Die Hard helmer Len Wiseman, with Ana de Armas playing its lead character.
Keanu Reeves and Ian McShane lead the Chapter 4 cast, which also includes Donnie Yen, Bill Skarsgård, Laurence Fishburne, Lance Reddick, Clancy Brown, Marko Zaror, Scott Adkins, Hiroyuki Sanada, Shamier Anderson and Rina Sawayama.
In addition to Ballerina, Lionsgate is also working on The Continental, a spin-off series that explores the origins of Ian McShane’s Winston Scott. Colin Woodell is playing Winston, with a supporting cast that includes Ayomide Adegun, Peter Greene, Mel Gibson, Ben Robson, Hubert Point-Du Jour, Jessica Allain, Mishel Prada and Nhung Kate. The series is set to premiere on Peacock in 2023.
