‘The Punisher’ Star Jon Bernthal Remains Hopeful For Another Season

Jon Bernthal is ready to drop everything for a return as Frank Castle!

Jon Bernthal revealed that he is ready for a return as Frank Castle if Marvel’s The Punisher gets the greenlight for a third season after being canceled by Netflix.

The Punisher was one of the last shows to premiere in Netflix’s corner of the Marvel Universe, but ultimately faced cancelation from the streaming giant like the others. Jon Bernthal became the fourth actor to portray Frank Castle when he debuted in season two of Daredevil before getting his own series.

While Marvel Studios is moving forward with their own shows for Disney Plus, many fans are still hoping some of the actors like Charlie Cox and Jon Bernthal continue to play the characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The recent news of Jamie Foxx returning as Electro in Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 3 has made Marvel fans even more hopeful for the return of the Netflix characters in future projects. During a recent appearance on the Geek House Podcast, Bernthal looked back on the reception from fans and shared that he is ready for a third season of The Punisher if it ever comes to fruition:

“It’s unbelievably humbling how much people sort of responded to this version of Frank, and I can’t tell you how much it means to me because he means so much to me. He’s in my blood, he’s in my bones. So it’s not about whether we do it, it’s about getting it right, and doing the version that the fans really deserve. We’ll see. I mean, all of those decisions are made in rooms I am not invited into… But Frank’s always there, he’s always a part of me. And when we get the call to go, I’ll be ready, and I’ll make sure that I do everything I can to make sure that we do it right, or we won’t do it at all.”
